Type should be within reach while you're learning — and it shouldn't get further away the moment you graduate. Nordtype offers reduced licences for students, and keeps them reduced through the first years of independent work.
Students — 75 % off
If you're currently enrolled at a university, college or design school, you're eligible for 75 % off. Your student licence is a full licence and may be used commercially, including for your first paid and freelance projects. It is not a trial, it is not restricted to coursework, and the fonts are not cut down in any way — you get the complete character set and every OpenType feature.
The discount applies to your whole order, across as many licence types as you need. Take Desktop and Web together, add App if you're building one — it is not a choice between them. Put everything you need in the cart and the code reduces the lot.
The student rate applies at the 1 person company size, and for Web licences to one domain. That covers what a student or a one-person practice actually needs: the fonts on all of your own devices, your own site, one app. Larger organisations and additional domains are available at the regular price.
Alumni — 50 % off
Graduated recently? For up to two years after graduation you're eligible for 50 % off, under the same terms — 1 person size, one domain for Web, as many licence types as you need. The rate steps down once, rather than disappearing the week you leave.
Buying more later
Nothing you buy now is money wasted if your work outgrows it. If you later need more domains, or a further app, write to us and the licence is extended — you pay the difference, never for the same fonts twice, and every euro you paid counts toward it. You will never be asked to repurchase something you already licensed.
To be straight with you about one detail: what gets credited is the amount you actually paid, not the full price of what you licensed. So an extension bought years later, at the regular rate, costs what it costs. If you are still studying — or still inside the two-year alumni window — when you extend, say so and the reduced rate applies to the addition as well.
And if your practice simply grows, nothing happens at all: a licence is granted for the company size recorded when you bought it, permanently. Growing does not invalidate it, does not require an upgrade, and is not something you need to tell us about.
How to claim

- Attach proof: a current proof of enrolment (students) or your graduation document with a visible date (alumni).
- We verify manually and send you a personal discount code for checkout.
The discount is tied to your status at the time of purchase. The licence you acquire is permanent and stays valid for everything you make with it — including after you graduate and your practice grows. Only the reduced rate itself depends on your being eligible on the day you buy.

Deine Studierendenlizenz ist eine vollwertige Lizenz und darf kommerziell genutzt werden, auch für deine ersten bezahlten und freiberuflichen Projekte. Sie ist keine Testversion, sie ist nicht auf Studienarbeiten beschränkt, und die Schriften sind in keiner Weise beschnitten — du bekommst den vollständigen Zeichensatz und sämtliche OpenType-Funktionen.
Der Rabatt gilt für deine gesamte Bestellung, über so viele Lizenztypen, wie du brauchst. Nimm Desktop und Web zusammen, ergänze App, wenn du eine baust — du musst dich nicht entscheiden. Leg alles in den Warenkorb, was du brauchst; der Code reduziert das Ganze.
Der Studierendentarif gilt für die Unternehmensgröße 1 Person und bei Web-Lizenzen für eine Domain. Das deckt ab, was Studierende oder eine Ein-Personen-Praxis tatsächlich brauchen: die Schriften auf allen eigenen Geräten, die eigene Website, eine App. Größere Organisationen und weitere Domains sind zum regulären Preis verfügbar.
Alumni — 50 % Rabatt
Vor Kurzem abgeschlossen? Bis zu zwei Jahre nach dem Abschluss erhältst du 50 % Rabatt, zu denselben Bedingungen — Größe 1 Person, eine Domain bei Web, so viele Lizenztypen wie nötig. Der Tarif geht einmal herunter, statt in der Woche nach dem Abschluss zu verschwinden.
Später mehr dazukaufen
Nichts, was du jetzt kaufst, ist verloren, wenn deine Arbeit darüber hinauswächst. Brauchst du später weitere Domains oder eine zusätzliche App, schreib uns — die Lizenz wird erweitert: Du zahlst die Differenz, niemals zweimal für dieselben Schriften, und jeder gezahlte Euro wird angerechnet. Du wirst nie gebeten, etwas erneut zu kaufen, das du schon lizenziert hast.
Damit das klar ist: Angerechnet wird der Betrag, den du tatsächlich gezahlt hast, nicht der volle Preis des Lizenzierten. Eine Erweiterung, die du Jahre später zum regulären Tarif kaufst, kostet also, was sie kostet. Studierst du zum Zeitpunkt der Erweiterung noch — oder bist du noch innerhalb der zweijährigen Alumni-Frist —, sag Bescheid: Dann gilt der ermäßigte Tarif auch für die Erweiterung.
Und wenn deine Praxis einfach wächst, passiert gar nichts: Eine Lizenz wird dauerhaft für die beim Kauf erfasste Unternehmensgröße erteilt. Wachstum lässt sie nicht entfallen, erfordert kein Upgrade und muss uns nicht mitgeteilt werden.

Der Rabatt ist an deinen Status zum Zeitpunkt des Kaufs gebunden. Die erworbene Lizenz gilt dauerhaft und bleibt für alles gültig, was du damit gestaltest — auch nach dem Abschluss und wenn deine Praxis wächst. Nur der vergünstigte Tarif selbst setzt voraus, dass du am Kauftag berechtigt bist.
